Policy Frameworks for Building Back Better
TGC believes that creating conditions of success for women in workplaces is an international struggle, and we have endeavoured to be a part of efforts to build equitable workplaces in STEM both within Canada and beyond. This has meant that we focus our research and co-design not just tactical solutions that can make a difference today, but also engage in ongoing discussions and advocacy that create policy and frameworks that help make our values a shared reality.

How can innovation and technological change and education in the digital age drive gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls?
In 2023, Saadia Muzaffar represented TGC as part of the Canadian delegation to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York.
At its sixty-seventh session, the Commission on the Status of Women, in accordance with Economic and Social Council resolution 2020/15, considered as its priority theme “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”. It considered as its review theme “Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls”, evaluating progress in the implementation of the agreed conclusions of its sixty-second session.

How can world economies create opportunities for women in science and technology fields?
TGC had the honour of representing Canada at Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2016. APEC is a dynamic engine of economic growth for its 21 member economies including giants such as USA, Canada, China, Russia and emerging nations like Papua New Guinea and Peru. Member economies are home to around 2.8 billion people and represent approximately 59 per cent of world GDP and 49 per cent of world trade in 2015.
The APEC Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiative arises from the APEC Women in the Economy Dashboard, powering research, dialogue, and synthesis to create. TGC contributed to the APEC Women in STEM framework, which organizes the challenges across key issues of:

How can we support leadership and skills development, and drive culture shift across the public service?
In 2017, TGC was invited as a collaborator for Canada Beyond 150: Policy for a diverse and inclusive future - a training program designed to help early-career public servants learn new ways of developing policy through increased engagement and collaboration with stakeholders.
